The first thing you need to do is find a place with decent airflow. Since you're working on outdoor furniture you might as well just do the work outside on. Be sure to have plenty of ventilation and wear a respirator if you feel the need to work inside though.

You need to deep clean the wood, this is the next step. Make sure there isn't mold or mildew built up and you need to scrub it down. Let the furniture completely dry before starting to stain.

Give it a quick once over with a rag soaked in mineral spirits to remove any dust that might have gotten onto the furniture over night. Now that the wood is ready for staining. While the wood is drying go ahead and stir up the teak oil and lay your brushes and rags out.
